How to Choose a Website Developer in Yerevan: A 10-Point Checklist

Ordering a website in Yerevan today is easy: there are dozens of freelancers, studios and agencies. Choosing the right one is harder — and a wrong choice usually becomes visible only months later, when the site brings no requests or the developer stops answering. Here is a checklist we would give a friend.

1. Look at live websites, not just pictures

Screenshots in a portfolio prove little. Ask for links to real, working projects and open them on your phone. Do they load quickly? Are they convenient to use? Is it clear what the business offers and how to contact it?

2. Check whether they ask about your goals

A good developer starts not with "what color do you want?" but with "who are your clients, and what should they do on the site?" If nobody asks about your audience, competitors and goals, you will get a pretty page that does not sell.

3. Find out exactly what is included in the price

Ask for a written list: number of sections, design, mobile version, languages, texts, forms, analytics, SEO setup, support. Two offers at the same price can contain completely different amounts of work. We explained what usually affects the price in the article "How much does a website cost in Armenia in 2026".

4. Clarify who owns the domain, hosting and code

This is the most underestimated point. The domain should be registered in your name, and you should have access to hosting and the admin panel. Otherwise, if you part ways with the developer, you risk losing the website and its search positions.

5. Test the speed of their own site

Open the developer's website in Google PageSpeed Insights. If their own site is slow on mobile, yours probably will be too. Speed directly affects both conversion and search rankings.

6. Ask about SEO basics

Even a one-page website needs correct titles and descriptions, a sitemap, robots.txt, a mobile version and connection to Google Search Console. If the developer can't explain what they set up, the site may simply not appear in Google. See the most common mistakes in our article on technical SEO errors.

7. Discuss timelines and stages

A clear process — briefing, structure and texts, development, testing, launch — is a sign of an experienced team. A typical one-page website takes one to two weeks; if you're told "a couple of days" or "a few months" without explanation, ask why.

8. Understand what happens after launch

Who fixes errors? Who changes a price or adds a photo? How much does it cost and how quickly do they respond? Support terms should be agreed on before work starts, not when something breaks.

9. Check languages

In Armenia a website often needs Armenian, Russian and English versions. Make sure each language gets its own quality texts and that search engines can index every version — not just a switch that swaps the text on one page.

10. Read the reviews and talk to the team

Ask for reviews or contacts of previous clients. And pay attention to communication: if answers are slow and vague before you pay, they will not get better after.

Red flags

  • No links to live projects.
  • The price is named without a single question about your business.
  • The domain will be "registered for convenience" in the developer's name.
  • No written list of what is included.
  • 100% prepayment with no stages or deadlines.

Conclusion

A good website developer is not the cheapest or the most expensive one, but the one who understands your task, explains clearly what you are paying for and stays in touch after launch. Use this checklist with any team — including ours. Look at our projects, check our prices and ask us any questions from the list above.
